Westside Repair Café

WHEN: July 15th, 2017 – Open to the public from 2:30PM to 6:30PM

WHERE: Culver City Presbyterian Church – Social Hall

11269 Washington Blvd (at corner of Globe Ave.)
Culver City, CA 90230 

(Next to the Culver City Montessori School and across the street from the new Habitat for Humanity site)

PARK:  For free on Washington Blvd., or Globe Ave. Optionally take the green Culver City Line #1 bus, get off at stop #21 (Sawtelle Blvd.). Return using stop #23 at Sepulveda Blvd. Buses run every 15-20 minutes during the WRC.

The Westside Repair Café team (Our Time Bank & Transition Culver City) has joined forces with Culver City Presbyterian Church to help run the next Repair Café! The City of Culver City may lend support to the event, schedule permiting.

We will update this event page 1-2 weeks before the event date with the Repair Stations that will be operational. For a complete description of what we expect to be able to repair at each Repair Station click HERE.

If you would like to volunteer to help at this event, you do not need to be an expert fixer! Apprentices and those with an aptitude to learn are welcome to volunteer. If you can help with repairs, demonstrations, general staff support, etc. please consider signing up HERE (volunteers only please)

To help us do the repairs as fast as possible, we ask that you send us an EMAIL a week or two in advance describing the items you need repaired and their condition. Please include brand and model numbers where appropriate. Our repairers will research your items ahead of time to help ensure we are able to make proper repairs quickly.

Stations that we hope to be in operation for this event include: Station B - Give-away Table; Station C - Wardrobe, Clothing; Station D - Computers; Station E - Appliances, Electrical; Station H - Bicycle; Station J - Sharpening; Station CR Crafts & Re-purposing; Station CS Clothing Swap table; maybe 1-2 other Stations and a couple demonstrations (TBD at event). (See our Repair Station page for types of repairs we hope to do).  

Our Repair Ticket form can be downloaded at the bottom of this Calendar listing. Please see our procedures page for how it is used. Please EMAIL us in advance to tell us about what you have for repair; please bring any manuals along with the item to help us with repairs.

Potluck: Please bring a dish to share that feeds 8 people. You'll earn a Time Bank hour by if you do! Please BRING your own plates, cups and utensils (and serving utensils). Bring a friend, orientation will follow the potluck.  

New Member Orientation: Want to join Our Time Bank? If you need to attend an orientation (1 of the steps to join) please come learn all about it. One of our leadership team members will be giving the orientation at 3:30.
 

Swap - Exchange: If you have an item or anything that you no longer have a need for it, bring it to the potluck. Someone may want your treasure. You may find something you would like to have and could swap or not with that person. However, if your treasure remains by the end of the potluck, you will need to take it home with you. However…don’t give up, bring it back next month. There will be another potluck.

The potlucks are OTB sponsored events therefore alcohol, drugs, smoking and pets are prohibited.

Summer Repair Café - Fiesta La Ballona

When: Saturday August 26th, 2017 - 10AM to 6PM

Where: Veterans Memorial Park, 4117 Overland Ave, Culver City, CA 90230 

The Westside Repair Café team (Our Time Bank & Transition Culver City) has joined forces with the City of Culver City to help run the next Repair Café!  It will be sponsored by Culver City Public Works and Environmental Programs Department at the city's hugely popular Fiesta La Ballona. The WRC will be hosts at the City sustainable booth on Saturday, August 26th, from 10AM to 6PM.

The booth only has room for two tables. We would like to rotate repair stations at one of the tables every 1-2 hours, depending on volunteer availability. We need volunteers at the other table to help provide info to the public and handle repair paperwork (logs, waivers, tickets). If you can help at this always fun event, please sign up HERE (volunteers only please)
