Westside Repair Café - Santa Monica - A Holiday Event!

Once again the Westside Repair Café team (Our Time Bank Transition Culver City) have joined forces with the City of Culver City and The City of Santa Monica to help run the next "Regional" Repair Café!  

Location: Palisades Park - Camera Obscura Art Lab Building - City of Santa Monica Community and Cultural Services Division, 1450 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90401

Guests, please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 2nd, start time Noon, end time 4PM.  Volunteers and fixers, please plan to arrive at 11AM for setup and orientation, then stay to help cleanup so we can vacate the facility by 5PM.  

Park in a City Parking Structure such as Lot #6 on 2nd Street. Additional metered parking may be found on Ocean Ave. or at the Santa Monica Pier less than 2 blocks away.

We will update this event page 1-2 weeks before the event date with the list of Repair Stations that will be operational.  For a complete description of what we expect to be able to repair at each Repair Station click HERE.

If you would like to volunteer to help at this event you do not need to be an expert fixer! Apprentices and those with an apptitude to learn are welcome to volunteer. If you can help with repairs, demonstrations, general staff support, etc. please consider signing up HERE (volunteers only please)

To help us do the repairs as fast as possible, we ask that you send us an EMAIL a week or two in advance describing the items you need repaired and their condition.  Please include brand and model numbers where appropriate.  Our repairers will research your items ahead of time to help ensure we are able to make proper repairs quickly.

Stations that we hope to be in operation for this event include: Station B - Give-away Table; Station C - Wardrobe, Clothing; Station D - Computers; Station E - Appliances, Electrical; Station F - Jewelry; Station H - Bicycle; Station I - Wood; Station J - Sharpening; Station CR Crafts & Re-purposing; Station CS Clothing Swap tablesmiley; Station N - Misc Consulting; Station BR - Book Repair; maybe 1-2 other Stations and a couple demonstrations (TBD at event). (See our Repair Station page for types of repairs we hope to do).  

New this year, staff from the Santa Monica Public Library will be on hand to help you troubleshoot *not fix, but learn to use your electronic devices. In addition, garment activist Frau Fiber will be operating her last day of the pop-up alteration project "Tailor Made" onsite; spin the wheel of worldwide garmentworker wages to determine how much your alteration will cost.
